Day by day

1: Arrive Apia, settle beachside village

Land at Faleolo International; rent a car and drive east 1 hour to Salani (south coast).

Check into a beachfront fale (open-air bungalow). Walk the black-sand beach at low tide.

Dinner of grilled fish and taro root at a family-run beach café.

2: To Sua Ocean Trench & coastal walks

Short drive to To Sua; swim and snorkel in the stunning turquoise volcanic pool.

Walk the coastal cliffs; stop at small villages to buy fresh coconut and chat with locals.

Return to Salani. Sunset from your fale; listen to the reef break from your bed.

3: Rainforest waterfall trek

Drive west to Faatoia waterfall trailhead; jungle hike (45 min) through lush ferns and vines.

Plunge into the freshwater pool; climb behind the waterfall; explore pools upstream.

Return to Salani. Massage or rest before dinner of coconut milk fish curry.

4: Manono Island snorkel & local tradition

Boat from Salani harbour to Manono Island (20 min); snorkel the pristine coral gardens.

Explore the island's village; participate in a traditional ava (kava) ceremony if timing allows.

Return by boat. Quiet dinner on your fale's terrace; early sleep.

5: Beach day & cultural exploration

Free morning: swim, read, or paddleboard in the calm lagoon off Salani.

Drive to nearby village markets; sample fresh fruit and shop for woven mats and coconut carvings.

Final sunset swim. Dinner at a warung; fresh grilled snapper with lime and chilli.

6: Depart Apia

Early drive to Faleolo International (1 hour).

Depart Samoa.
