What to expect

Day by day

Day 1: Arrival in Brașov & Old Town

Fly into Bucharest; 2-hour drive to Brașov. Check into a mountain lodge 10 km outside town.

Explore Brașov's Piața Sfatului (Black Church square): Gothic cathedral, pastel townhouses.

Dinner at the lodge: vegetable ciorbă (sour soup), grilled trout, local Fetească wine.

Day 2: Prapastiile Waterfall & Forest Trail

Drive to the Prapastiile trailhead (20 mins); hike 2 hours to the waterfall in a green-shaded gorge.

Picnic on rocks by the falls; return via the same path (no uphill on descent).

Soak tired feet in the lodge's herb bath; dinner of sarmale (rolled cabbage) and local cheese.

Day 3: Bran Castle & Castle-Town Views

Drive to Bran Castle (30 km); tour the Gothic fortress (Dracula connection, but actually Habsburg history).

Walk the castle trails overlooking the Carpathian foothills; visit the village of Bran for local crafts.

Return to lodge; quiet dinner and early night.

Day 4: Sighișoara Medieval & Clock Tower

Drive 60 km to Sighișoara; wander the Citadel's steep narrow streets and pastel merchant houses.

Climb the Clock Tower (92 steps) for views over red-tile roofs and the Carpathians beyond.

Dinner at Casa Vlad Dracul (in the actual house of Vlad the Impaler): medieval atmosphere, hearty Transylvanian food.

Day 5: Mountain Meadow & Wildflowers

Return to the lodge area; hike to Plaiul Foii meadow (1.5 hours) carpeted in lupines and fragrant herbs.

Lie on the grass with panoramic Carpathian views; return via pine forest descent.

Farewell dinner: slow-roasted pork, fermented vegetables, homemade tuică (plum brandy).

Day 6: Departure & Final Views

Optional sunrise hike to a nearby ridgeline (45 mins); return for breakfast.

Drive 2 hours back to Bucharest airport.

Evening flight home.
