Olhão, Portugal

5 Days in Olhão, Algarve

Olhão, Portugal · 5 days, 4 nights · budget · from about $680 per person · best in April, May, September

Olhão is a lived-in fishing village where the Ria Formosa lagoon fills the horizon and fishermen still mend nets by the waterfront. Come in shoulder season to eat fresh octopus at waterside tascas, kayak through salt marshes, and wander narrow streets before the summer crowds return. This is the Algarve for travellers who want Portugal, not a resort.
